Feb 5th 2002 Nick and Artie Take Zen to
St-Donat
At the first warming hut east of the Glaciere, we mewet
up with a PA Gang from Harley. Some looser destroyed the warming hut. They
broke the window and the stove, why do people do this? Trails 'good', tho
a little thin and bumpy in spots, and a very rare bare patch.
Next stop, after we got gas, was to have lunch at the Cuillere
a Pot in St-Donat after going through the park, which needed grooming. The
New Yorkers said, " this is as good as the park gets, there is always
plenty of traffic here. I found it rough and some stretches bumpy as hell,
but they say that is normal. Now...to meet the illusive Sarah from TC!
Zen meets TC Sarah in the restaurant. The Zen Moose came
along for the ride, but liked Sarah better than Zen, so decided to stay with
Sarah. It started to snow while we ate lunch, always a good sign. Lunch was
most excellent, Sarah and Zen talked about getting roasted by the readers
of TC.COM at times, then we hit the road. St-Donat was so nice, (and Sarah
too!) that Zen is thinking about making a move a move. Sarah, a non smoking
Anglophone! Damn rare in this neck of the woods I'd say! (Zen Moose used to
live with Laurey in San Diego!)
Sarah explains to Zen in a radio interview, how she came
to Canada from Ireland, most of the story was shrouded in mystery. Zen liked
the story, and Sarah of course! These two have so much in common!
Cupids Nick Amodio and Artie Fussy, NYPD, are pleased that
Zen is sufficiently smitten...their evil plan is working!
The
snow is still coming down, and the boys take Zen up to the old cabin, and we
view the lake below.
Nick demonstrates his endless patience with Zen who always
takes photos... also Zen rides too slow. Thanks Nick! Check out the snow!
Pretty damn good trails.
Zen and Artie cross the bouncy Notre Dame bridge!
Now, Nick and Zen follow Artie the leader over the Hydro
hill, and down the other side.
Bumpy as hell, and Zen's back is getting stiff. "You're
getting old Zen!" says Nick as the light begins to fade.
Next stop is
St-Come,
and the ice sculpture festival. Simply Amazing what these folks can make out
of river ice.
The late afternoon sun popped out one more time as we headed
down the home stretch to St-Zenon. I caught this shot of Nick blasting past
the camera. The trails were good, a little thin in spots, some short sections
with bumps and there were a very few rocks, but ask me, "Did I have the
time of my life?" You bet I did! Thanks Nick, and Thanks Artie! zw
PS: Dead tired now at 1 AM. I haven"t even read your
mail yet today or given you a weather update. Sorry. but I have to sleep now!
