Nick Amodio, Leader, Coach, Boy Scout Extraordinaire!
Last night at the Bistro, I devoured a great rib eye steak, compliments of Nick Amodio and his New York gang of eight. We enjoyed wonderful conversation, in English at a non-smoking table... heaven for me!
I had been waiting for months to meet this man, a motivator, a connoisseur
of professional sport, and a family man. I must also add here that he is a
good Boy Scout, and never gets lost... HA!, but that's another long
and embarrassing story that I will keep for another time!
Yesterday the boys managed to put on another hundred miles. Aside from the
local trails, some better than others, they ran down to see Helen and Peter
at Koubek's.
"The trail was flat, and powdery, and deep in places," said Nick,
who explained that you just have to get out there with a good attitude, and
find the best trails. "It's like finding diamonds in the rough",
he said .
Nick, an avid sportsman who runs a large sports facility back home in Bethpage
New York, teaches hockey skills to young NHL prospects. Nick also has put
together a special radio communication system, designed especially for the
snowmobiler. For more info on this contact
Zenwaiter, and I will fwd any mail to Nick.
The others at the table agreed with Nick on trail quality, but added that three members of the group did have to change the carbides on their sleds. "The 318 to Koubek's was rough, but the 350 coming back was nice."
They added that the 63 south of the Glaciere was really nice, but they didn't have the time to venture too far in that direction. zw
