speaking snowmobilers in your parking lot this winter, by the Mauricie
River.
It's a slice of Switzerland here in Canada. Everything about this lodge
says Europe, but the welcome you recieve says "Let the pleasure
begin!".
The view from my breakfast table is spectacular, the
mighty Mauricie River rages below the forest of pines. My coffe is steaming
hot and aromatic, the flavour fills my senses. The sunshine filters
through the windws and warms my mind. It's a dream vision that starts
this day in Mekinac Quebec.
Inside the hospitality is warm. The bar staff is always very important
in any hotel, and here in the deep woods of Quebec is no exception.
Beauty, intelligence, and attention - that's what we need. I like to
have an intelligent conversation, and these Swiss dudes, man, they speak
seven languages, and are world travelers. Now there's something to talk
about.
This is a typical evening at the Montagnard. Far from being a snobby
outfit, these people invite large groups to spend the weekend and party.
Here we see the owners Therese and Edgar entertain 30 beautiful young
women from a hockey league in Trois Riviere. I was there that night,
and the pork tenderloin was unbelievable.
Here some of the gals dress up the stuffed bear in their hockey jersey.
No one stands on ceremony here, but a week ago, a delegation of Swiss
diplomats ate in the same room!
Now back to the kitchen. Therese is amazing. She also has great helpers
that make your dining experience totally relaxing and unforgettable.
You are family now. Bring your wife and kids, have a wonderful time,
then go and sleep like a rock in the beautifully decorated bedrooms.
Every bedroom is different from the one next to it. Rich colours and
teddy bears everywhere, that's the order of the day at Le Montagnard.
The walls are made of huge logs, and each room has it's own bathroom.
Bright, clean, and with a European touch, the decor in this beautiful
Swiss mountain lodge is delicious. When you come up with your wife,
she will never want to leave. Staying here is a treat for the senses,
and a rest from the noise and worry of the city.
Teddy bears are on every bed, and the
message is COZY! Even a tough guy can't escape the warmth and comfort
of the ambiance. Italian-Swiss cuisine, good wine, a roaring fire, and
a soft bed, make you forget about the problems of daily life. This is
true Swiss hospitality like you have never experienced.
Now we come back to the hockey women of Trois Riviere. Four teams unite
for a terrific weekend of food, wine, and song. As promised girls, I

Outside the leaves have fallen, but the pines maintain
their richness. The river roars and a cool breeze announces the comming
of winter.

Richard's at Auberge Mekinac for breakfast, then head over the mountains

for some of Therese's cuisine. Yeah Baby! That's what I'm talking about!
