AUBERGE LA BARRIÈRE A STE-ÉMILIE DE L'ÉNERGIE Reservations and Information
|
Pourvoirie Auberge
Last summer I drove out to the Barriere for supper with my friend Christelle and her three children. Christelle's husband Olivier, (yes, you remember him from the Sportif Motel), was now the chef. We sat in a formal dining room and ate roast beef which was served to us by Gaetan, another friend. It was delicious, and the service was terrific. There were American fisherman sitting at the next table over who also enjoyed the feast. The experience was like walking into a fine dining establishment in your jeans and hip waders, leaning you rod and tackle box against the wall, and then picking up a plate and heading for the buffet! You are deep in the wilderness, yet close to town at the same time. You are on the snowmobile trail and have everything you need, including some really nice hosts that look after you. You can sit with the owners if you like, have a beer, and forget about your office scene and your day to day cares back home. The place has a fascinating history, full of strangers who became friends over a fresh trout dinner. Comfortable, casual, well organized and friendly. No huge crowds or cafeteria feeling here at the Barriere. I only met the owner once, but I liked her and her family alot. I thought that one day she might contact me to become a sponsor, and her she is! As soon as I can, I am going to run over there on my sled with Lory to grab some more photos for you for this page. If you have a few comments to share with us, please feel free to send them... photos too. zw |
