THE REFUGE INN

Dec 27 2003
Fun on the Lake Stanislas!

A new group of fanatics from Montreal
arrive for the day!

There are wild sleds all around the Refuge, and as
usual, Crazy Al checks them out.

One more pulls in from the lake.

Check out the NITRO!

Al's silhouette, and the new drag strip
in the distance. Open for use every
Saturday at a nominal fee to cover the
insurance expenses.

In his garage, an assortment of customized racing
sleds.

Out front, friends compare performance stories.

And then it begins! The unofficial drags all day long on the lake. On the right we see the real drag strip.

Several planes rendezvous on the lake.

Karen, Pyro, and I head out towards the dam. The
trail has eight inches of powder on top of a 10 inch
hard pack base. Not a rock in sight today!

Various and sundry traffic pass by every ten minutes.
This guy has a sled with camping gear. Heading out
a ways I imagine. Not the typical site in our area.

After a ride, we head back to St-Zenon and park the
sleds in the garage. Pyro Dave gives me a lesson in setting
my belt tension, and we all set.

We then drove up to
Real Masse's Dining room for an excellent steak, where
I ran into about a dozen friends from PA! What a day!

In the morning, we are riding about at 7 am to beat the
crowd, to Marineau's, a few hours out, and a few back!

Off to bed. I'm tired, but 'good tired'. Fresh air will do that!
See you all soon! Trails are excellent, tons of snow.
