12: KEN HAMELIN'S Testimony The trip to
Mont Valins was a long white knuckle ride from Oshawa to Mont Valin. It took up
14hrs about due to weather, but it was worth every minute!!! We
left at 7am in a brand new Ford f150 4x4 crew cab.We started with 268kms on the
truck. We had no problems other than weather. Snowed the whole way. Once we had
gotten to chicoutimi we called Richard and got the final directions to the mountain.
Like clockwork, Richard and his son Tommy met us at the marker31 on the forest
access road and proceeded to help us unload our truck and load our stuff onto
their sled. We followed them into the trails to our final destination about 13kms
from anywhere. What a place. It was amazing. Not knowing where
we were or where we were going, it was nice to see what we ended up with. The
hospitality was amazing. Claudette was first to greet us with a big smile as we
walked in.The chalet was awesome. warm, clean ,friendly!!! What more could a bunch
of hicks from Ontario want?? How bout snow? The 2 feet or so outside the
door was just what the sled gods ordered. I decided to rest up for the next day.
(we arrived @9:30pm) But my buddies wanted to go for a run. They had a blast.
The groomer was just out and the trails were amazing. Back to the accommodations
ay Richard's place. Everything was great. Claudette was an awesome cook.Richard
too. The food was unreal; Real home cooked meals. The rooms we slept in were good
too. Private and quiet. Warm every night. I dont know how you could get better
for $75 per night per person with two meals. The first day almost turned
into disaster for me as I was having problems with my Visor. But Richard would
have no part of my fun being spoiled. He helped me fix my problem and even picked
up the parts I needed to fix it properly for me. What an awesome host. Tommy even
delivered the part I needed out to me on the trail. What an awesome young man.
And he could ride a sled. About the trails.
WOW WOW WOW! We did over 600kms in under 3days. Not bad for no snow anywhere
else. The trails seemed like they were groomed every night. And there were some
trails that were 100mph plus if ya had the protection from the wind. We stopped
in Passion for food and drink, it was alot of fun, and so was Le
Chapelle Restp. Great food and scenery ;). It was an unbelievable
3days and Myself and my friends Mitch and Ron will never forget the experience
and will be going back again to see Richard, Claudette, and Tommy this year again.
Over all it was a 20 out of 10. Well worth the drive and the money .Hands
down was a great experience for all!!!!! Thanks again Jerry for your
advice and help getting us there it was a blast. Oh yeah the f150 had 2468km
upon our return....... GREAT story Ken! Now THAT'S

Jan 9th I
just spoke to Richard's wife, she says it is still snowing and cold up there in
the Mont Vallin plateau - all the info you need IS on this page.. But you will
have to read it carefully, and I cannot do that for you. I took the time to post
everything here, but if you are too lazy to read it, don't call me, cause I am
very sick this week, and my voice is no good. Please do some of the work yourself
and READ THIS PAGE" Thanks zen Jan
6 report from Jerome! Zen,
I wanted to thank you so much for referring me to Richard's Chalet and helping
me make reservations. I also wanted to say thanks for the personal note you sent
along to me, thanking me for the donation. The trip was tremendous and Richard
and his family couldn't have been nicer. We did 304 miles the first day which
basically was the groomed in trails on the Mount Valin Est map. Richard then broke
out the "secret maps" and showed me an easy way to Club Onatchiway where
we proceeded to ride the next 2 days. We put on just over 900 miles in 3 days
of riding in snowmobile heaven. I am going to attach photos to this email. Please
check them out and let me know what you think. Thanks
for everything, PHOTOS

Rides up in Monts Vallin
Yup - I would call that Riding all right! Go see her report in HCS ! See
Her 24 photos Here in her new Blog Monts Vallin
has early riding and late riding every year, because the trails are located up
on a mountain plateau. They have to groom the trails for 5 months of the year.
It is very beautiful. Remember that THIS year, since there is not much snow anywhere
else - it will be a busy spot! They tell me to avoid the weekends. Too many riders.
Tug Hill revisited?? Not really. The trails are far better. It is colder, and
they have way more snow. **************************** |
