They have a guide booked for Monday and Tuesday, and hope to meet Cal White from Addventure X Lodge too. Feb 28 2008 Gerry M and I did a radio podcast - go listen here. Feb 27 2008- The sleds have arrived in Cornerbrook NFLD.
--------------------------------------- 2007 Tour Day 1- Friday February 2nd The crew trailered up to North Bay,
but found no snow, no trails.Trailored to Temiscamang. The show is
gonna begin a day later than planned. Day 2 -Saturday February 3rd 3 feb 07...left Temiscaming Quebec
2pm for Rouyn-Noranda..bitter cold lost two in ville marie area trails
thin ...and closed in some areas.....backtracked ..headed up 63 and
hooked up with the lost souls on trails where where it was onlly passible
by sled not opened yet ...no groomers ....lots of snow ...rolled into
Rouyn about 1030pm...325 kilometres later ....alpin hotel .very nice
restaurant closed ..pizza pizza came to recue..and beer...............
04 feb left for Lebel sur Quevillon...trails thru Val Dor awesome cold day but a good one signage was good 360 kilo...é. Gerry M called me from Val D'Or, listen
on this link...
05 feb..-44 took a while to get sleds going ..but thanks to Walmart at Rouyn...we plugged micro furnaces in under hoods and away we go.again.........trails good to Chibougamau ..rail line most of way.. .signage good cold cold........350 k... ...........hotel Chibougamau goood spot bar open left sleds inside at arctic cat dealer ..repairs on new sleds tighten track etc.....well worth the money. ..........people were great ....beer was good This morning they awoke to -44F and it was about -25C all day long. Everything froze up. Gerry left me a short message this evening, when I was out. He said today was fabulous riding, and excellent groomed trails, they made it to Chibougamau, no problem. The boys have all left their sleds parked inside the Arctic Cat dealership for the night, to thaw them out. This way they'll start in the morning. There's plenty of deep snow up that way, and the club has done a great job of grooming.
06 feb ..left for Auberge Toit Vert near Roberval....good trails till we got to La dore..then fields of dirt no sigmage in and out of towns ...carbides and sliders took a beating.......didnt get to jacks place until 11pm but he was great and his wife ...hot tub not up and running...but the bar was.....many went to bed , the rest drank beer..approx 425 kilo because we were lost for a bit.. "The men are still alive and well, all safe, no accidents, just I very frustrating day trying to find Chibougamau with virtually no signage. The clubs probably didn't have the time yet to install the signs because it is a big job, and everything was started late this year. The trails into Jack's Outback were great and Jack was a great host. (Auberge au Toit Vert). " 07 feb left in morning for Parent....long
day great trails signage not good but we made it cold very cold ..no
problem finding gas or lunch stops .....rolled into motel around 930pm...all
restaurents closed .but they were nice enough to keep bar open ..so
we dined on potato chips and beer ......great big beers...400k
09 feb (friday) travel to Ville Marie...started out great as soon as we figured a way out of town...travelled for hours very nice then came the detour...trail closed due to bridge out...secondary trail was .just opened and packed .trees every where small saplings were stuck in our suspensions ,I told the guys that i was driving a 700 lb bulldozer..some lost mirrors .i punctured a boot covering the tie rod ...anyways we finally made it after many logging roads later no signage...into Ville Marie great meal and good beer .Kirk and Gerry are the 07 Euchre champions....350 k Gerry called in early this morning, and I was still asleep so I missed the call. ( I got in at 3 am last night). Hew sounded tired on my answering machine, and said he is in Senneterre and leaving for Ville Marie today. He says there is no Internet where he stayed last night, so cannot send more photos. He will be sending a tons of information when he gets back home. Gerry also said he will be cutting about 60 miles off the end of the trip because of lack of snow in North Bay. Giving snowmobile trail condition reports from the road is very difficult, especially when I miss their calls. E-mails with photos would be best, but at the end of the day, you get tired - I know this from past experience. When you get into someplace warm, and hang up all your gear around the wood stove, all you want to do is put your feet up, and have a cold beer. After that, sleep comes to get you. One thing for sure, you earn your
sleep, and you sleep the sleep of complete soundness. Deep sleep,
good food, and 8 days of fresh air is what the Tobasco Boys are getting
this week. They also had to use all their abilities to get from A
to B, because of poor signage up there, and bits of trail that are
barely passable. It's been challenging, tough, and at times gruelling,
especially with temps as low as minus 44F!
An excerpt from the road Communication.. The signage was great and the hospitality
was SUPER. The people tried very hard to speak English, and us as
well in French. All in all we are having a great time and are ready
to head out in the morning to track down Roberval Jack's Place." CLICK on some of these to Zoom!
